COVID-19 Event Cancellation Information

You’ve been in our thoughts during these uncertain days.

 

While the spring weather makes us yearn for a fun event at Summit Park on May 16th, United Pet Fund has made the tough decision to cancel the 2020 Muttstache Dash 5K x Paws in the Park event.

 

Caring for the safety and well-being of our participants, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and their pets is, and always will be, a top priority of United Pet Fund. Especially during challenging times like these.

 

But there is good news: You can still help the thousands of pets in shelters and rescues who were counting on the event’s proceeds.

 

United Pet Fund’s mission does not stop during tough times. In fact, it demonstrates how much we are needed. We are hearing every day that our members, animal shelters and rescues need more food and supplies to take care of the animals in their care during these tough times. With your continued support, together we can make sure those resources will still be available—now and in the uncertain days to come.

 

Ways You Can Still help:

 

  • Would you consider your race fee a donation to the United Pet Fund as well as our 100+ UPF Members? If so, no action is needed and we thank you!

 

 

  • We would love to see you and your pup participate in your own Muttstache Dash 5K on May 16th. Run or walk the distance you registered for, take a picture of you and your pup (get creative), and use the hashtag #MuttstacheDash2020. 

 

Of course, we understand if you would still like to request a refund. Please fill out the refund request form linked here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2PZ2QNR

 

Refund requests will be accepted through Friday, May 22nd at noon. As this is an unprecedented occurrence, please keep in mind that refunds may take up to 2 weeks to fully process. Please note: T-shirts and swag bags have not been printed nor will not be available. 

 

The Muttstache Dash will be back and bigger than ever in 2021. Until then, take care and we can’t wait to see you!

What is the Muttstache Dash?

The Muttstache Dash is an event to support United Pet Fund and help local shelters, rescues, and animal care groups get the vital resources they need to care for and house animals waiting to find forever homes. 

When is the Muttstache Dash?

Saturday, May 16th, 2020 at 10:30am. Late registration begins at 9:15am. The event is rain or shine. We prefer shine!

Where is the Muttstache Dash?

The Muttstache Dash will be held at Summit Park in Blue Ash, Ohio.

How long is the Muttstache Dash?

We have two events - a 5K (3.1 miles) run/walk or 1 mile run/walk. Competitive runners, recreational runners, walkers, and runners/walkers with (well-behaved) dogs and kids invited to participate!

When and where is packet pick-up?

More info to come later.

How do I change my division?

If you would like to change the division you are in please email us at info@unitedpetfund.org or click on the 'Contact' button. In the division change email please include the following: your first and last name and 1 mile run OR walk.

Is the Muttstache Dash a family-friendly event?

Absolutely! We encourage families to attend and participate. Pet parents...please be certain to watch your dog's reaction around crowds and especially children. Human parents...please also keep an eye on your child's interactions with the dogs as some dogs are more reactive than others. We want this to be a fun and safe for all involved!

How old does my dog need to be to participate?

Your dog must be at least 6 months of age, in good health, and current on all vaccinations. 

What if my dog is aggressive?

Only well-behaved dogs will be allowed. For the safety of all participants, if a dog is noted to be aggressive to other dogs or humans during the event, United Pet Fund reserves the right to not allow the dog to participate in the run/walk event.

Are retractable leashes allowed?

NO retractable leashes are permitted. Please keep dogs on a 6 foot or shorter lead and have them walk or run close to you. As people maneuver through the pack during the race we do not want runners/walkers to be tripped up with extended leads.

Do I need to clean up after my dog?

Yes! Please pick up after all of your dog's messes, including along the route - also a park rule. We surely do not want an unexpected surprise for our runners or walkers! Use the dog waste bags that are available in your swag bag when needed. Trash bins will be accessible along the race route.

Should my dog run or walk?

Please be certain your dog is comfortable running at your pace before deciding to bring him or her. We want this to be a pleasant experience for everyone, the four-legged participants as well. If your dog is not comfortable running or stops and starts quite a bit, please consider walking with him/her that day for the safety of others as well for the comfort of your dog.

After-Party: Paws in the Park

What is Paws in the Park?

Paws in the Park is a dog-filled day put on by the CIty of Blue Ash and United Pet Fund. Pet owners and their pups can enjoy dog friendly activities, photo booths, adoptable dogs, food, music and more.

Is Paws in the Park free?

Yes!​ Paws in the Park is free and open to the public. 

When is Paws in the Park?

Paws in the Park will take place right after the Muttstache Dash 5K from 12pm to 3pm. 

Will there be a Paws in the Park in the fall?

We are so excited to take-over the Paws in the Park event that Summit Park usually has in the Fall and combine it with the Muttstache Dash 5K to make it a dog-filled day in the Spring on Saturday, May 16th.
